I’m a girl who grew up in Whitman, Massachusetts. When I was little, all I dreamed about was becoming a veterinarian. My love of all creatures, great and small, was supported and nurtured by my amazing mother, Diana. We raised beagle puppies, and to this day, I can still smell their puppy breath as I lay on the kitchen floor and let them lick my face and ears. It was pure joy!
As I grew older, fashion and modeling took center stage, and I went to college for Fashion Merchandising. I worked for a short time in the fashion and retail industry, but it held no meaning for me. I bounced around working for a few large insurance brokerage houses in Boston, but I was frustrated. I knew I was meant to do something more. Something that held more purpose and meaning.
I’ve always had a big heart and a great capacity to connect and love all people. I was criticized many times for being “too nice,” “too open,” “too friendly,” but I didn’t know how else to be. I struggled for years with low self-esteem and trying to fit into others’ visions of who I should be. It was a difficult and painful journey, but I began to understand and appreciate who I was and embraced it little by little.
I didn’t realize that all of the years of struggle were preparing me, strengthening me so I could help others with their journey to self-love and self-acceptance. I’m actually crying right now as I write this because it’s an overwhelming feeling. I am so grateful to have found my purpose. I will continue my commitment to providing a safe and welcoming space where my staff and I can offer support and guidance so others may find the joy and satisfaction of inner strength and purpose.
Happy New Year!
Lots of Love,Maria
