The Confidence Connection

You are connected to a family, a community, a world.  Use your power wisely.

The Confidence Connection curriculum is inspired by the findings and call to action of U.S. Surgeon General, Vivek Murthy.

In May of this year, the U.S. Surgeon General issued an 85-page advisory study in which he noted, “Given the significant health consequences of loneliness and isolation, we must prioritize building social connections the same way we have prioritized other critical public health issues such as tobacco, obesity, and substance use disorders.”

Ultimately, what the surgeon general was saying is our youth is dangerously disconnected from the relationships that keep us safe and healthy. That’s why, Fearless Focus has decided to build our Fall Program on the foundation of the Confidence Connection. The Confidence Connection will focus on nurturing the four relationships that make us socially well-rounded: one’s relationship with themselves, with friends, with family, and with their community.

The warning issued by the Surgeon General isn’t one that needs to be met with fear. This fall at Fearless Focus we’re meeting the moment with action.

Let’s Makeup! – Fun Halloween Makeup Ideas and Practice

This class is all about the fun and fantasy of makeup.  But not wearing it because they feel like they have to in order to “look good” but rather to feel good!   Wearing makeup is a choice and each person is entitled to make it without any pressure.  Whether they decide to wear makeup or not, the important thing to remember is that they should never judge another person’s decision.

Attire:  Casual, dressed up, or dressed in their Halloween costume – whatever your child prefers!

Week #6 – Week of October 30th

Make Your Mark!

A strong bond with their community fosters a sense of belonging for young people. When kids and teenagers feel connected to the people, places, and values around them, they develop a sense of identity and purpose.  Being actively involved in their community through volunteering or work can expose young people to diverse perspectives, cultures, and ideas. That kind of exposure can create opportunities for personal growth and leadership.

Our “Make Your Mark” Art Project will consist of your child’s enlarged fingerprint surrounded by their own artwork, words, and creativity of how they will make their mark on their community and the world! We will provide the art supplies, however, PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO BRING SOME OF THEIR OWN ART SUPPLIES FOR THIS PROJECT.

Attire:  Casual, dressed up, whatever your child prefers!
