Your body language speaks volumes about you even before you open your mouth. Take a look at the girl sitting in the zebra print chair. Unfortunately, this type of body language has become all too familiar in children and teens in social situations. By crossing the arms, a barrier is put in front of the body, as some sort of protection. Another reason for crossing arms may be that you’re feeling vulnerable or insecure. The negative image gives others the cue that you don‘t want to engage with them even if you desperately want to.
According to an online article written by Candy Lawson for the Center for Development and Learning, “Children with social skill deficits are not doomed to be excluded or exiled by those around them, the solution to these issues is quite simple. In the article, Ms. Lawson covers four crucial topics that directly correspond to the curriculum we offer at Fashion Focus Program: Social Status at School, Communication Skills, Social Skills, and Teaching Social Skills.
