Many people ask me “What is Fashion Focus Program?”
Here is the answer I usually give: It’s an empowerment program for girls and boys. Our well-rounded curriculum helps kids and teens build their strength from the inside out. We want the same things for them that a parent wants: self-esteem and self-confidence, a strong physical presence, social ease with their peers and adults, body confidence, and to be able to navigate the world successfully.
Now here is a little history about the program: When I began Fashion Focus in 2000 my objective was the exact same as it is today. To create a safe place where all kids could feel welcome, happy, and comfortable being themselves. The “Fashion Focus” part of our name was derived from the very technique we have used all these years to empower every person…a walk down the runway in a “fashion” show surrounded by friends and family, and to “focus” on facing their fears. To walk with confidence, a powerful presence and to embrace their unique beauty.
The transformation is beautiful! It’s amazing what happens when you give a child the opportunity to shine brightly by just being themselves. I will never grow tired of seeing their smiles when they come off the runway. Or the enthusiastic hugs given to them by family members and the high-fives received from their friends. It’s such a simple premise but the inner power they feel from it resonates long after.
So from now on, when someone asks me “What is Fashion Focus Program?”, I will simply answer…Fashion Focus is a powerful place for beautiful transformations!
